OORJA By CAPF-2017

• “To create fervor among the youth of India towards football and create a mass movement, with the ultimate objective being to give an opportunity to every child of the country to play football.”-
• India will be hosting the U/17 FIFA Football World Cup in October this year. It will be the largest event in Indian sporting history. While emphasizing the successful hosting of the event, Hon’ble Prime Minister said that this alone could not be our final objective. FIFA Under 17 World Cup must be a catalyst for change, the tipping point for football in the country, which can only done by creating a mass movement around it with the ultimate objective being to give an opportunity to every child of the country to play football. A legacy programme of FIFA U-17 World Cup “Mission XI million” has been initiated. Mission XI million has been planned to take the beautiful game of football to at least 11 million boys and girls around the country. Accordingly in the run up to the Under 17 FIFA World Cup to be held in India in October 2017, Central Armed Police Forces, viz. BSF, SSB, ITBP, CRPF, CISF and Assam Rifles, under the aegis of the All India Police Sports Control Board (AIPSCB), are organising an All India Football tournament named ‘Oorja – CAPF U/19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament, 2017’ to be a part of Mission XI million.
• The tournament proposes to highlight the importance of teamwork, self-discipline, coordination, preparation, passion, attitude, definitions of success and dealing with failure. It aspires to promote healthy competition among youth, channelise their energies into a positive direction and in doing so, set them on the path to being good citizens. Football can play a critical role in improving the lives of the vulnerable youth in disturbed areas since it will also wean them away from anti-social and anti-national activity and offer annual employment for a select few in the CAPFs.
• The objectives of the Tournament are:
  • a. To be a part of Mission XI million.
  • b. To create fervor among the youth of India towards football.
  • c. To select promising players to represent our country in Asian Championship.
  • d. To recruit young and emerging players in CAPFs.
